Physical Education at Dawpool
At Dawpool CE, we believe that Physical Education provides every child with the opportunity to discover their strengths, challenge themselves and experience the joy of being active. Guided by our Christian vision and the Parable of the Talents, our PE curriculum inspires children to recognise their God-given gifts, develop resilience and understand the importance of teamwork, determination and personal achievement. We are committed to ensuring that every child, including those with SEND, has the opportunity to flourish, build confidence and experience success in a supportive and inclusive environment. Beyond our curriculum, we enrich children's experiences through external coaches, sports clubs, tournaments and sporting events throughout the year, opening doors to new opportunities and celebrating the achievements of every child. We want our pupils to discover what they can achieve, develop a lifelong love of physical activity and feel proud of their contributions, whatever their starting point.
Our curriculum is underpinned by four golden threads: agility, balance, co-ordination and sportsmanship. Through a progressive range of physical activities and sporting experiences, children develop fundamental movement skills, improve their control and precision, and learn to apply their abilities in increasingly challenging situations. We encourage pupils to persevere, embrace competition positively and recognise that success comes through effort, practice and supporting one another. Through team games, individual challenges and opportunities to represent our school, children learn to demonstrate fairness, respect and resilience, celebrating both their own achievements and those of others. Rooted in our Christian values, we want our children to be inspired to reach their potential, committed to treating others with kindness and respect, and equipped with the confidence and skills to lead healthy, active lives while using their talents to encourage others and contribute positively to our school and wider community.

We follow Complete PE for our programme of study. This provides clear progressive steps for all of our children to draw on their prior knowledge and skills. Throughout the year, further experts, external teachers and sports coaches are welcomed in to help develop staff and provide children with wider opportunities.
