Foundation 1Timetable and Topic overview
Please download a copy of Foundation 1's weekly timetable and topic overview. Please note, the topic overview has a variety of topic based ideas/activities. Not all of these will be completed and others ideas will be added over the weeks based on the interests of the children.
Please ensure you access Tapestry regularly as this will be updated with photographs information of what children are learning.
Nativity Sets and Gifts | Westminster Abbey Shop
It is that time of year!
We will be introducing our nativity production to the children. I am sure the children will come home singing the songs in no time!

Please see Tapestry updates for updates of adult led activities and continuous provision within the classroom.
Ideas for at home
Help children develop their independence by -
  • putting their own coats on
  • putting their own shoes on
  • going to the toilet by themselves
  • washing and drying their own hands.
  • Sitting at the table at meal times and using a knife and fork.
Downloadable Resources & Activities
Please note that resources for lessons will be uploaded if a child is self-isolating due to having COVID-19.

During our time in Foundation 1, we will undertake activities linked to all areas of the Early Years Curriculum;

Prime Areas; Communication and Language; Personal, Social and Emotional Development;

Physical Development.

 Specific Areas; Literacy, Maths, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

Sessions will also include RE, HeartSmart and Forest Schools.

Activities will be linked to our class topic which is ‘Where in the World’. We aim to use children’s films and books as a hook for learning to help us find out more about the world around us. Throughout the year we will select films based on the interests of the children and that enable us to cover all requirements of the Early Years Curriculum.

We will talk about where the film is set and find out where this country is on a map. We will then the theme of the film as a way of guiding our planning.

The very nature of the EYFS curriculum enables us to go with the interests of the children. The activities we plan are for a guide only.

We may complete planned activities, adapt planned activities or remove activities from the planning and replace with something more suitable. It is all dependent on how and where the children’s interests take us.

Activities are designed to cover several weeks, if needed.
