Curriculum Design
At Dawpool CE, our curriculum is rooted in our Christian vision and the Parable of the Talents, which inspires us to recognise, nurture and celebrate the God-given gifts within every child. We believe that education is about more than acquiring knowledge; it is about developing the whole child spiritually, morally, socially and academically, enabling every individual to flourish and experience fullness of life. Our bespoke curriculum has been carefully designed around the needs, interests and experiences of our children, connecting their learning to the community in which they live while opening their eyes to the wider world. We want every child, including those with SEND, to feel a strong sense of belonging, discover their potential and develop the confidence to embrace new opportunities. Through ambitious learning, meaningful experiences and rich connections across subjects, we aim to nurture children who are rooted in their values and identity, inspired to discover and develop their talents, and committed to using their gifts to make a positive difference to the lives of others.
At the heart of our curriculum design are carefully developed golden threads that give purpose, coherence and progression to learning within and across subjects. These threads identify the essential knowledge, skills and experiences we want children to revisit, deepen and apply as they journey through Dawpool. They enable pupils to make meaningful connections, build upon prior learning and develop a secure understanding of the world, while ensuring that each subject retains its own distinctive identity and purpose. Our curriculum celebrates diversity, nurtures curiosity and encourages children to question, reflect, create and think critically. Through inclusive teaching, memorable experiences and opportunities to learn beyond the classroom, we seek to remove barriers, broaden horizons and inspire a lifelong love of learning. Above all, our curriculum is designed to support children’s spiritual growth, helping them to understand themselves, appreciate the dignity and worth of others, marvel at the wonder of creation and recognise their responsibility to care for it. We want our children to leave Dawpool as confident, compassionate and reflective individuals who are rooted in a strong sense of belonging, inspired by the possibilities before them and committed to serving others, embracing diversity and making a meaningful contribution to their community and the wider world.
