Mrs Helen Griffiths
Headteacher
It is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to Thurstaston Dawpool Church of England Primary School, a very special place where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish.
At Dawpool, we are proud of our strong Christian ethos, which is at the heart of everything we do. Our school is a place where children feel safe, happy and loved, where individuality is celebrated and where everyone is encouraged to become the very best version of themselves.
Our school vision is captured in three simple but powerful words:
Rooted. Inspired. Committed.
These words reflect who we are as a school community, what we believe in and the aspirations we have for every child in our care.
Rooted in God's love, we believe that every child is unique, precious and created with their own gifts and talents. Inspired by the words of Ephesians 3:17–19, we strive to create a nurturing environment where children develop a strong sense of belonging, grow in confidence and know that they are deeply valued. Our Christian values underpin the relationships we build and the way we care for one another.
Inspired to grow and flourish, we have the highest aspirations for all our children. Drawing inspiration from the Parable of the Talents, we encourage every child to discover their strengths, embrace new opportunities and develop a lifelong love of learning. We want our children to be curious, courageous and resilient, recognising that they are capable of achieving wonderful things. Through a rich and engaging curriculum, we provide opportunities for children to flourish academically, spiritually, socially and emotionally.
Committed to making a difference, we encourage our children to look beyond themselves and recognise the positive impact they can have on the lives of others. We want them to develop compassion, a strong sense of justice and the courage to stand up for what is right. Through kindness, service and responsibility, our children learn that their gifts and talents are not simply for their own benefit, but can be used to help others flourish too.
What makes Dawpool truly special is our sense of community. Our children, staff, families, governors, church and wider community work together to create a school filled with warmth, encouragement and a shared ambition for every child. We recognise the importance of strong partnerships with parents and carers and value the trust families place in us.
We have very close links with St Chad’s Church, Irby and St Bartholomew’s Church, Thurstaston. Our Christian values - known as the ‘Fruit of the Spirit’ - are embedded into the heart of the school:
‘Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Generosity, Faithfulness,
Gentleness & Self-Control (Galatians 22-23)
As Headteacher, I feel incredibly privileged to lead such a wonderful school. I am immensely proud of our children, their enthusiasm for learning, the kindness they show to one another and the many ways in which they bring our Christian vision to life each day.
Above all, my hope is that every child leaves Dawpool with happy memories, strong foundations, confidence in their own abilities and a belief that they can make a positive difference in the world.
We are enormously proud of our school and its place in the local community of Thurstaston and Irby. Our locality at the foot of Thurstaston Hill is truly unique and I hope that through this website, you get a taste of what Dawpool offers and how we work. Whether you are a parent, a pupil or a friend of the school, I hope you enjoy finding out about Dawpool. If you are a prospective parent, then I would love to meet you and take you on a tour of the school.
The links on the left will introduce you to our wonderful Dawpool team.
We look forward to meeting you.
