Hi everyone
First of all I am sending you all a hug as that is what we would do if we were together in school! Each day I will log on to say good morning! We will have reading workshop activities and Maths and a task related to our topic or Science, Art etc. I want you to imagine I am in your house with you, teaching you like I do in school. Imagine sitting on the carpet and learning with each other. You can chat to your parents or brothers and sisters-it will be like having new talking partners! Parents-please don't worry if you don't get through all of the tasks. Break them up into manageable chunks and build in brain breaks as we do in school. Don't try to recreate the school day as it will be stressful for you and the children. Do as much as you can but please don't get worried if you don't accomplish everything I have set. Be kind to yourself and the children and enjoy this time together. I will try to make things as fun as possible, with a variety of things to do, but please bear with me as I get to grips with the technology and how to best tailor the learning activities to work online. Please feel free to email me if anything is not clear or you need any help or to show me your fantastic work. Remember that Mrs Whibley and I love you very much and you are in our thoughts all the time! We will get through this together and be back together again soon. Much Love Lynne Young
Year One's celebration of home learning!
Happy birthday to Cillian on the 18th July, Alex on the 12th August and Darcy on 13th August! We will do the birthday cake when we get back to school for all of the people who missed their turn on the birthday chair! Much Love and birthday wishes from Mrs Young xxx

Good morning my lovely Year One! Well I can't quite believe it is the last day of term! It is not the end of term we all expected when we began our journey together last September! I have missed you all every day and have tried my best to keep all of your little smiling faces in my memory to keep me going whilst we couldn't be together. I feel so lucky that I get to continue our learning journey together in September in Year two! I want to thank you all for all of your hard work at school and especially at home. You really have been lockdown superstars and I have loved seeing all of the work I planned for you come to life via the emails and photos you have sent to me. Next I want to thank parents for all of your support and patience in what has been an incredibly tough time for you and the children. I have loved getting to know you better and receiving your emails to let me know how you are getting on. Even when things have been tough you have all done your best and the children are lucky to have parents who have helped them so much. Thank you again for all of your messages, cards, gifts and support. You have been incredibly generous and I am very grateful. I hope you all have a great Summer and a very well deserved rest! Teachers always have a take away, a bottle of something nice and chill out when they break up for Summer so that's what you all need to do as you really deserve it! :-) Take care, stay safe and I love you all lots. Hopefully see you on Tuesday next week when Mrs Whibley and I will be dropping off your end of year little gift. Big hugs Mrs Young xxx
Maths w/b 6.7.20
This week I will leave the home learning booklets on that I put on last week for revision,  as from Year 2 there are maths activities being uploaded to help children revise. Unfortunately Third space that have compiled these activities, did not provide any for Year One. Working through the booklets I provided will be just as useful for your child. You can choose the one your child needs to revise or work your way through them all. I have also attached two powerpoints for revision. I have also uploaded the Fluent in five questions we start each day with. We do one page each day. I have uploaded more than one so you can keep working on them. if you wish to do so. The rest are at the bottom of the page to save clogging up this weeks work. The children usually write their answers on whiteboards but you can write them on paper or in your maths book. Discuss with your maths partner (your parent!) how you will work them out. There is usually something on the screen to help you. Don't worry if you don't have all of the apparatus to work out the problems-try different ways to solve the problems! I know you are all super mathematicians! You can do one each day and the answers are on the next page. Have fun!
Find below a list of books selected for children in Year 1 (aged 5-6) of average reading ability. If your child is a competent reader or has read all these titles then try the books from the Year 2 list. The list aims to promote reading for pleasure with quality texts that are perfectly pitched for the age group and the curriculum.
