Our school is a Church of England voluntary aided primary school. The funding arrangements differ from other primary schools in that the Governors are liable for 10% of the cost of any building work or repairs at the school.
In order to help raise this money the Friends of Dawpool School was set up a number of years ago. FODS is a parents association which not only raises these funds but also helps the school to provide the many extras that enhance school life.
FODS run a number of fundraising events over the year which are open to pupils, parents, church members and the wider community. We aim to provide events at a reasonable price that people can enjoy.
Over the last few years FODS has enabled the school to refurbish the kitchen, build two large extensions, re-surface the car park and improve the outdoor play facilities. We now have a warmer, more secure and very pleasant learning environment for all of our pupils. This would not have been possible without the magnificent support of FODS.
We use St Chad's Church for a number of our events. Our aim is to increase the profile of our church school and FODS in the parish, and to make the events more accessible for people not directly linked to the school. Everyone is welcome to our events.
